Connect Apps with Virtual MIDI

No external hardware? No problem. simpleMIDIController's Virtual MIDI feature lets you send MIDI signals to other apps on the same iPhone or iPad.

Use Cases

  • Control DAW apps like GarageBand or AUM
  • Manipulate synthesizer app parameters in real time
  • Adjust effect app settings on the fly

Build a complete MIDI workflow on a single device — no external hardware required.

How to Set Up

  1. Enable Virtual MIDI in simpleMIDIController's settings
  2. Open your target app (DAW, synth, etc.)
  3. Select "simpleMIDIController" as MIDI input in that app

That's all it takes. Buttons and sliders in simpleMIDIController will control the target app in real time.

Examples

With GarageBand: Set simpleMIDIController as GarageBand's MIDI input, and use on-screen pads and sliders to play and control GarageBand instruments.

Live Performance: Use simpleMIDIController as a unified control surface across multiple apps in your live setup.

Works Alongside Other Connections

Virtual MIDI works simultaneously with Bluetooth and USB MIDI. For example, control an external synth via Bluetooth while also sending MIDI to a DAW on your iPad via Virtual MIDI.
