M2MX12

12-Voice Analog-Modeling Polysynth

Welcome to M2MX12 support.

M2MX12 is a 12-voice polyphonic analog-modeling synthesizer for iPhone and iPad, modeled on the pole-mixing filter architecture of the legendary matrix polysynths of the mid-1980s. It runs as a standalone app with a built-in touch keyboard, and as an AUv3 Audio Unit instrument inside GarageBand, AUM and other AUv3 hosts — with native MIDI 2.0 input throughout.

Features

Two Oscillators per Voice

Band-limited saw, pulse (with PWM) and triangle waves, detune, hard sync, VCO2→VCO1 linear FM evaluated per sample, and key tracking.

15-Mode Pole-Mixing Filter

A four-stage zero-delay-feedback ladder filter whose individual pole outputs are blended into 15 responses — 1- to 4-pole low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, notch and phase modes — plus filter drive saturation and resonance loudness compensation.

Deep Modulation

Five DADSR envelopes, five LFOs (six waveforms plus sample & hold, with retrigger, lag and amplitude control), a dedicated vibrato section, and portamento with constant-rate / constant-time curves, legato mode and full polyphonic support.

Voice Stack

12-note polyphony with up to 16 stacked voices per note, stack detune, equal-power pan spread, and a mono UNISON mode for massive leads and basses.

Analog Character

Per-voice pitch drift, per-voice component variance (filter cutoff and envelope times), velocity-to-cutoff and a humanized touch keyboard. All character options ship off by default, so patches stay clean until you dial the vintage in.

MIDI 2.0

Native MIDI 2.0 (UMP) input with high-resolution velocity, aftertouch and mod wheel. MIDI 1.0 keyboards and interfaces work seamlessly too.

AUv3 Plugin

Use M2MX12 as an Audio Unit instrument in any AUv3-compatible host, with sample-accurate MIDI timing, host parameter automation and full state save/restore in your projects.

70 Factory Presets

Categorized factory presets plus user preset saving. Your presets are shared between the standalone app and the AUv3 plug-in on the same device.

System Requirements

  • iOS / iPadOS 18+ (iPhone and iPad)
  • Works standalone with the built-in touch keyboard, or as an AUv3 instrument in a host such as GarageBand, AUM or Cubasis

FAQ

How do I use M2MX12 in GarageBand or AUM?

Create an instrument track and choose Audio Unit Extensions > M2MX12 as the sound source. The same works in AUM, Cubasis and other AUv3 hosts.

Do my presets sync between the standalone app and the AUv3 plug-in?

Yes — on the same device, user presets are shared between the standalone app and the AUv3 extension automatically. They are stored locally and never leave your device.

Can I play it with a MIDI keyboard?

Yes. Connect any Core MIDI-compatible keyboard or interface. M2MX12 accepts MIDI 2.0 (UMP) natively for high-resolution expression, and standard MIDI 1.0 devices work just as well.

Why do the presets sound perfectly clean, without any analog drift?

The Analog Character options (pitch drift, voice variance, velocity-to-cutoff) are disabled by default so every preset sounds identical on every device. Turn them on in the app to add vintage instability to taste.

Does M2MX12 collect any data?

No. M2MX12 does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. See the Privacy Policy for details.
