Privacy Policy

MyEQ (the "App") is designed with your privacy as the first priority. This privacy policy explains how the App handles data.

1. Information We Collect

MyEQ collects no personal information.

  • It does not collect user identifiers, contact details, or location data
  • It performs no analytics collection
  • It sends no automatic crash reports
  • It uses no advertising identifiers and performs no user tracking

2. How Audio Is Handled

MyEQ applies an equalizer to system audio. To do this it captures the system's audio output using the Core Audio Taps API provided by macOS.

  • Captured audio is processed in real time, entirely on your Mac
  • Audio is never stored. MyEQ writes no audio files and keeps no recordings, temporary or otherwise
  • Audio is never transmitted. Nothing is sent to any server, and nothing is shared with third parties
  • Processing happens only while the app is running, and stops when you quit it

3. Network Communication

MyEQ performs no network communication. All processing is completed locally on your Mac.

4. Settings We Store

MyEQ stores only the presets you assign to output devices, inside the application container on your Mac. The stored fields are:

  • The output device identifier (device UID)
  • The output device name
  • The identifier of the assigned preset
  • The time the assignment was last updated

These remain on your Mac and are never transmitted. Application settings such as whether audio processing is enabled are not persisted; MyEQ starts from its defaults each time it launches.

5. Permissions

MyEQ requires permission to record system audio. This is required in order to apply an equalizer to the system's audio, and it is used for no other purpose.

You can revoke this permission at any time. Open System Settings, then go to Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording, and turn off the entry for MyEQ. When the permission is revoked, MyEQ stops processing audio.

6. Third Parties

MyEQ shares no information with third parties. It embeds no analytics services, advertising networks, or crash reporting services.

7. Children's Privacy

MyEQ can be used by people of any age, and it collects no information from users of any age.

8. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated as needed. When it changes, the "Last updated" date above is revised.
